We spend our days playing indoor and out (walking distance to 4 parks as well as a big backyard with sandbox, climber and plenty of toys), as well as doing some arts and crafts, learning sheets, music time, stories and special activities. I prepare healthy snacks and lunches daily and follow the Canadian food guide recommendations. I believe communication with parents is key to a successful childcare relationship so I also provide a monthly newsletter of events so parents are always in the loop of what we are working on. My home is both pet free and smoke free and I am open to caring for children with food allergies / EPIPENs. I am one of the 1st daycares in Barrhaven to offer all natural, organic, healthy homemade nutritious meals and snacks, and a safe home environment where eco friendly products are used, in a very health conscious daycare. Children can be brought as early as 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. I provide a structured program and understand that children need love and attention above all. Your child would have a balanced day of indoor play, outdoor play, art, music, stories, and nap / quiet time. Play would consist of free play, and activities that promote educational enrichment. All children 3 and under, nap in a crib, or playpen in their own rooms. All bed linens are washed weekly. Daily written journals are provided for children 3 and under. I provide a very high level of nutritious home cooked meals, and snacks, striving to reduce the consumption of sugar, preservatives, artificial colours, and flavours in the food that I serve. Meals and Snacks consists of fruits, vegetables, and meat, and some organic fruits, vegetables, and naturally raised meats (which are naturally free of antibiotics, and hormones). Lunch consists of meat, a variety of 3 kinds of vegetables and a side of rice, bread, or pasta. Snack consists of 2 kinds of fruit and or vegetables, and a side of whole grains. Homogenized milk and unsweetened fruit juice is provided.

Tiny Hoppers opened its doors in Riverside South in 2005. We have expanded to become one of the largest daycares in the Ottawa Region with 6 locations (Riverside South, Kanata Bridlewood, Orleans, Rockland, Barrhaven and Kanata North) and hundreds of children. We take pride in being selected as one of Ottawa's Best! The Tiny Hoppers* curriculum is based on the 4-Blocks Literacy Model. These four blocks include Guided Reading, Self-Selected Reading, Writing, and Working with Words. During a regular Hopper day, the children are lead through a routine including daily passwords, morning messages, sign in centres, circle time learning bins, and attendance cards. Literacy is taught through a variety of carefully chosen games, songs, and activities that provide children with an active and fun learning experience. All of our educational centres are carefully planned to provide children with an exciting hands-on learning experience that touch on activities in all areas of learning including math, science, literacy, and the arts. Hopper teachers must attend a yearly training course that is designed to teach them how most effectively to teach literacy to young children and how to best promote literacy in their classrooms. Our curriculum is theme based which helps us to focus our learning activities on themes and activities that the children find most interesting. Although the Tiny Hoppers* curriculum is carefully laid out in detail, teachers are encouraged to enhance their program with additional activities based on the individual needs and interests of the children in their group. These new activities and ideas are then shared with all Hopper staff, across the city, through a private teacher Blog which is a resource that our teachers use to come up with new and exciting ideas for their classrooms.
